What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We want to share the Chartagon board game and world with everybody. In order to do this, we sometimes have to collect personal information. We know how important it is for you to understand how we use your data. We will always be as transparent as possible with you about what we do with your personal information.

This Privacy Notice applies to all personally identifiable information about our users and explains how personal information is collected, used or disclosed by the web page and the Chartagon app. It also describes the measures we take to protect the security of your personal information. The personal information we collect from you will depend on how you interact with the website and can include:

  • Your name and address
  • Your billing address and delivery address
  • Your telephone number and email address
  • Your purchasing activity
  • Your credit or debit card, or other payment information, will be handled by Stripe. Please review their Privacy Policy for how your information is protected. We do not store any payment information.
  • Your IP address which we store when you browse our website or other device identifier when you use a mobile device
  • Any other information you decide to give us when you contact us or order from us.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age 13, without the consent of a parent or guardian. In general, we try to collect as little information as possible, and will not share it with anyone unless we are forced to.

The Chartagon app

The app does not collect any of these data, and the required permission to access the internet is only needed to download the audio clips of the app. The only data that is uploaded to our servers is the path to the audio that should be streamed.

While downloading and installing the app the Google Play store and iOS AppStore will collect data to inform us about how many users from each country installed the app. Please review their Privacy Policies for further information about how they use your information.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor?s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

To make our products and services available to you

Who we share your data with

If we want to present descriptive statistics from our page, such as how many people has downloaded maps, rules, translations, etc., it will always be in aggragated form (i.e. grouped together with all users, so that there is no data belonging to specific users).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We use and keep your personal information for as long as it is required for the purpose identified when you provided the information or as otherwise required to comply with any legal obligation. We may use anonymized data indefinitely. If you would like further information, please contact us.

In order for us to provide products and services to you, we share your personal information with our trusted third parties, as detailed below.  Whenever we share your personal information, we put safeguards in place which require these organizations to keep your information safe and not use your personal information for any reason other than to provide you with those specific services, except as may be permitted by law.  We will never sell any of your personal information to a third party.

To fulfil orders for products and services
We work with a number of trusted service providers who carry out services on our behalf when you purchase products and services from us.  The services provided by these organizations include fulfilling orders, delivering, and processing payments.  We require these service providers to keep your information secure and only allow service providers to use or disclose your information in order to provide the services to us and for no other purpose.

To prevent crime and comply with laws
We share your financial information including your credit card, debit card, or other payment information with third parties (i.e. Stripe) to ensure that your payment is safe and that your details are not being used fraudulently. In fact, although the payments appear as if they are on our site, the needed information is never collected by us, but by the third party company. In addition, we may be legally obligated to share or disclose your personal information to law enforcement agencies or public authorities in order to prevent or detect crime.

To provide a positive user experience
We work with these third parties to place relevant content for you on our website, other websites, social media, and online and mobile apps.  In order to do this, we need to use cookies, pixels and related technology on our website. The cookies can be stored for varied periods of time. Only anonymized information is captured and aggregated (so that it can no longer be associated with you) to share with third parties in order to provide you with relevant content.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We may need to transfer your information outside of Sweden for processing and storing.  The privacy laws in other jurisdictions may differ from Swedish privacy laws and in some jurisdictions your information may be accessed by law enforcement authorities or the courts. How we protect your data

We take the security of your personal data very seriously.  We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized disclosure, use, alteration and destruction of the personal information in our possession. This means that your data is protected and only accessed by co-workers who need it to carry out their responsibilities. We also ensure that there are strict physical controls in our buildings which restricts access to your personal data to keep it safe.  Online access to your personal information is protected with a password you select. We strongly recommend that you do not share your password with anyone.

Your data is protected by the webservices we have from Surftown A/S. Payments for the shop is handled by Stripe (stripe.com).

What third parties we receive data from

We have built this site using WordPress, and may recieve data from themes and plugins in the CMS.

What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

None. We don’t even know how to do this.

Changing your preferences

If you no longer wish to be contacted by us about our products or services or receive marketing communications, you can amend your preferences by contacting us or simply follow the unsubscribe link provided in emails you receive from us. Alternatively, if you have a profile on the Chartagon, you can unsubscribe by logging into your account and updating your preferences.

If you find that the personal information we have about you is inaccurate or needs updating (for instance, you may have changed your name or address), then please contact us so that we can correct it or log into your Chartagon account to update the information.
